I was waiting anxiously for the clock to strike twelve as we were cleaning up the cooking utensils and plates. Somehow I was being carried away by the cleaning and when I realized the time, it was almost ten minutes past twelve. Searching for an excuse, I took two empty but dirty containers to the back of the cafe and passed them to him. He thought I'd bring all the dirty containers for him to wash but I just brought two. I told him that I'd bring the rest of them later and sneaked to his back, pulling his shirt while exclaiming, "Baby, there's something I need to tell you which I have forgotten!" He stopped washing the dishes and turned to look at me. "Happy Birthday, baby." I wished him and kissed him on the lips.
After we finished closing the stall, he went back home to bathe since I told him to stop by my house later. His sister left a birthday gift on his bed, along with a red packet from his mother. He unwrapped the present and checked the contents: laptop cooler and mouse. It was a thoughtful gift from his sister, since his laptop was scorching hot without the cooler and his mouse was spoiled when he dropped the entire laptop last time. Coming home with me after he bathe, he stayed in the living room and read newspaper while waiting for me to take a bathe. I took the present I prepared for him and gave it to him. He didn't know that I got him present since I told him before that I didn't really know what to get for him and he didn't know when I went out to get the gift.
Unwrapping the present carefully, he took out a car accessory which will shake and nod its head when it absorbed solar energy. It was a Stitch toy, which I matched with another baby Stitch his sister decorated in his car dashboard. And inside the box, there was another gift I prepared for him: a couple key chain. He didn't have any key chains for his house keys and I got him a couple key chain so we could hang them on our house keys respectively. As he was prepared to leave since it was getting late, I told him that there was something else I had prepared for him. What's birthday without birthday cake? I bought two different flavoured cakes from Secret Recipe: New York Cheese Cake and Chocolate Indulgence Cake. He couldn't really differentiate the ingredients he ate and I told him that it would no longer be a "secret recipe" if he could found out the ingredients.
I was awakened by the text message from him in the morning before my alarm went off and he told me that he had insomnia and couldn't fall asleep since he was afraid he couldn't wake up on time for our trip to Penang. I rushed to bathe and he fetched me to his house so he could sleep for a while. Waking him up at ten, we ate the remaining cake I got him before we started our trip. When we reached Penang, we realized we didn't plan anything before the trip so we were clueless about the places to visit. Therefore, we stopped by a tiny food court for lunch while surfing the Penang Free Wifi for places of interest to visit. He told me that he was interesting in taking pictures with those interesting wall arts so I searched for the directions and used the GPS to get there. It took quite some time because I couldn't really find the direction and also the traffic jam was quite heavy in the town area.
We searched for few wall arts which we found pretty and interesting, took pictures and continued to walk around. After that, we decided to go to Batu Ferringhi since Kryss recommended the place to us when she went with her friends last time. Passing by a cheap motel, we stopped by for a short rest since he was drowsy and tired from all the driving plus insomnia last night. Two hours later, he was fully charged and we continued our journey to Batu Ferringhi, which was approximately 5KM more. Reaching there, we searched for a parking spot and went for a stroll at the beach before having dinner at the food court near the beach. The items in the night market were so damn expensive although they were fake brands. Dang. As we were walking past a Reflexology center, I saw a pond of fishes and the worker said it was Fish Spa, which the fishes ate our feet's dead skin away. It was funny and ticklish when we first tried on it but we had gotten used to the sensations.
The journey back Ipoh after the spa session didn't really end since his birthday wasn't over yet and he suggested to stop by 糖水街 for dessert. It was a tiring, hot and unprepared trip to Penang but I had all the fun times and happy moments with him. I wished he felt the same way too. Last but not least: Happy Birthday, my dearest beloved boyfriend :) I love you. I really, really do.
